These floats earned their rustic appearance By marking 90 lb crab pots, for harvesting Dungeness crab in the rough waters off the Pacific Northwest coast of Alaska, Washington and Oregon State. The once bright colors made it easy for the crabber to identify their floats while bobbing in the ocean waves and varying tides.Some have fishing tags others don't. Floats break loose from their pots during storms & become marine salvage, washing up on the incoming tide as beach-combing treasures.
